Pre- and Postnatal

MOVE IN THE RIGHT WAY FOR YOU

 

Pregnancy and after you have had your baby, brings many changes to your body and your emotions.   Postural changes and the impact of pregnancy on the pelvic floor muscles can have a lasting impact, years later even.

​

Being active during pregnancy is a fantastic way to prepare and strengthen you and your body for these changes during the next exciting stage of your life. 

​

Your postnatal body needs to recover and having little sleep can leave you feeling lacking in energy and fatigued.  Starting a movement plan (once you have been given the all clear by the doctor at either 6 or 10 weeks) can help you and your body regain strength, feel energised and move more freely.   

 

Body Believe will design a movement plan for you that is specific to your pre- or postnatal stage.  Ensuring that you are moving safely and focussing on strengthening the body to cope with the demands of motherhood.

If you are new to movement and pregnant, this is ok!  If you are already active, then you can continue to maintain your fitness level.

​YOUR MOVEMENT PLAN

Your movement plan is designed exclusively for you.

 

You will complete a Pre- or Postnatal client information form which will provide Body Believe with lots of information for us to discuss, to get to know and understand you and your lifestyle better. 

​

You will also be asked to complete a medical questionnaire (PAR-Q) to ensure that you are ready to start a movement plan or whether we need any referral with a medical professional first and our terms and conditions to sign.  If you are prenatal, your midwife or GP must give consent to your starting your plan.  

Allow yourself the time to complete these forms without being rushed.  You will probably need at least 30 minutes. 

THE SETTING NEEDS TO BE RIGHT

 

Sessions can take place at Body Believe's own equipped private gym in Twelveheads, less than 4 miles outside of Truro.  Here, you can enjoy the peaceful rural surroundings and views, hassle free parking and a feeling of getting away from it all. 

 

Your sessions in the gym are exclusively for you. (Baby can come too!)

CHANGE IS A JOURNEY

Body Believe was born out of a passion to take women on a journey to help bring movement, fitness and well being into their lives, focussing on what can be done, and not what can't be done, giving women the confidence to move their body freely and with strength.  

Your Movement Plan

Initial Consultation

Initial consultations are free and include an in depth review and discussion of your current and/or past pregnancies, lifestyle, habits, exercise history and fitness levels based on information provided by you through the client information form.  All this information helps to ensure your plan is right for you and we can look at ways to support you with your nutrition, lifestyle habits and self care.

This is the time to be thinking about what your expectations are of working with Body Believe.  Think about why you are doing this and what you want to achieve.  

​

The session will include a movement analysis, postural assessment and a fitness assessment to ensure your movement plan starts you off at the right level

​

It is likely that this session will take over an hour, so make sure you allow time for this!

Your Sessions

Your first session will introduce you to your movement plan.  We will take time in ensuring that you have been shown and are comfortable with all the moves.  It also provides an opportunity to tweak any parts of the plan if needed.  This session may last a bit more than an hour.

 

Subsequent sessions will follow your movement plan for about 4-6 weeks before we review how it is going.  Again, small tweaks may happen along the way.  These sessions should last about an hour.  Reviews and a new PAR-Q will also be required at the start of a new Trimester if relevant. 

 

At the start of each session, we will always check in on how you are.  Body Believe understands that there are days when you just don't feel like it, during and after pregnancy!  On these days, we can modify a session to suit how you are feeling or start things off a bit more gently.  You may be surprised by how much more you end up doing once you have started.  These are your sessions, they need to be right for you.
